Reclaimed Slabs

A Large collection of the slabs that we sell are taken from the large man made lake in Suriname called Brokopondo.  The lake was made in the mid 1960s when Suralco, the Suriname Aluminum Company, flooded the area to create a hydroelectric dam to generate power for the Aluminum refinery.  As a cost saving measure the area that would become the lake bed was not cleared of trees, and thus many acres of timber was flooded.
